Hilary McRae’s debut album, Through These Walls, is available now! Released by Hear Music, this record showcases McRae’s soulful smoky voice along with her piano skills and seasoned songwriting abilities. She’s backed by a powerful set of horns that were arranged by Charlie Calello, who has arranged music for legends such as Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen. At 21 years old, McRae shines wise beyond her years as she draws upon past relationships and heartbreak to help craft many the messages behind the twelve songs on the record. With upbeat tracks like the lead single “Every Day (When Will You Be Mine)” to the smooth and sultry “Let’s Stop,” Through These Walls is a record with something for everyone to enjoy.
Utada Hikaru (宇多田ヒカル) is one of Japan’s most successful artists of all time. Her debut album, First Love, is the best-selling album ever in Japan with over 7.65 million copies sold in Japan alone. She has sold over 41 million records worldwide (with over 34 million in home nation Japan). Moreover, 3 of her albums are in the Top 10 best-selling album of all time in Japan (#1, #4, #8), making her one of the most indefinitely successful and popular singers in J-pop history. This woman is the type of artist who inspires. With versatility as one of her biggest strengths, she has dabbled in almost every musical genre throughout the release of seven albums, two in English, five in Japanese; sounding comfortable and at home in each. The lyrical content of her songs is rather limited, mostly pertaining to the joys and dramas of love, but, more importantly, she writes them all herself, and they are always clever, honest, and moving.
Every now and then, a rising artist shows immense potential and proves to have something really special to offer. And whether it be a five octave range with impeccable tone, amazing lyrics, or the ability to produce their own music, it always makes me want to share what I feel about them. And, Island Def Jam’s, Kerli is one of those artists. She’s got the voice of a girl who wants to be heard, the writing chops of a girl who deserves to be heard, and a personality that will make people want to listen.
Born in Elva, Estonia, a tiny, then-Soviet occupied town of 5,000 people in the forest, Kerli grew up with a dream to escape from her surroundings. “Little creepy girl/Oh she loves to sing/She has a little gift-an amazing thing,” she declares on the autobiographical, world music beat of “Walking on Air” (Listen). “She will go and set the world on fire/Nobody ever thought she could do that.”

Colby O’Donis is a twenty-year-old American singer signed with Konvict Muzik. He was born in Jackson Heights, Queens, but, later, moved out to Orlando Florida.
He’s been pursuing music for a while now. And was even signed to Motown Records and recorded a song for the Stuart Little Soundtrack as a child.
At first glance, he seems to be just another Justin Timberlake, but he proved me wrong by bringing his flavor to the table through displaying his unique musical style.
Donnie Klang was a contestant on the fourth season of MTV’s Making The Band and was awarded a solo contract in lieu of being chosen to be a part of the group that the show was designed to create. He released his first single, “Take You There“, on March 23, 2008, but is having trouble finding success, as it hasn’t even entered the Hot 100 Charts as of April 12, 2008.
He is hard at work recording songs for his upcoming debut album, which is rumored to be titled Rolling Stone. He’s been working very closely with Channel 7, formerly known as 7 Aurelius, on cultivating a unique sound for his album, which is turning out to be a fusion of electro-pop and R&B.
I’m becoming more and more excited for his album as I’m hearing more and more tracks from it. It’s dropping June 10th, so be on the look out for more from him.
